Soul Soot Poetry

#poetry, #prose

all the sun and all the moon long

i push the want of you away

bound and broken

in love’s stillborn hell

your words

reach for me

spreading

a darkening

across my soul

turning toward you

at 12:43

the ache of you wakes me

i write

your name on

each word i thread

every gossamer poem

a prayer

i beg

let me give God

not death

i suck the poison hard

from my heart

and spit hurt

there is no means

no mercy

only my body holding

the dying

at 6:41

my soul’s celestial reflection

broadcast in day breaking

no red sky at morning

a re-turning to God

~A.M. Troester, A Red Sky Mourning (A Siren’s Hymnal)
